I thought that yesterday’s journal entry might be my last one for awhile.
I received some good news today, however. So with only a few hours left
to the month of January, there’s time for one more entry.
But before I share the news, a short while ago my cell
block (the building I live in) was evacuated for our monthly fire drill. Every man who was in his cell or in the dayroom had to leave the building.
A fire drill is always a hassle because you have to
drop what you’re doing and file out the main door of the unit. We’re
then required to line up for approximately ten minutes in a crowded corridor, about sixty men standing shoulder to shoulder,
until the “all clear” is given.
Now I am back in my cell, and I want to attest to the
faithfulness of the Lord.
For a while I’ve been feeling that I am in some
kind of “spiritual slump” where nothing seems to be happening. Yet
yesterday, and then again today, some unexpected blessings have come my way.
During this afternoon’s mail call I received
two late responses from people who were touched by the Focus on the Family radio interview, which, as I mentioned last month,
was re-aired on December 8-10.
A woman from New York City who heard the broadcast said that, while she was listening to one of the segments, she felt compelled to confess her sins to the
Lord, repent of her backsliding, and recommit her life to Christ.
While a man from Grand
Island, New York, wrote a very encouraging letter telling me how much
my words inspired him. This was all the Lord’s doing, of course.
Their letters gave me joy. God has indeed been good to me!
